ANDY NEWENS, MA (Pre-Licensed)
Fairfax Office

Andy knows that the most important job of a counselor is to listen and understand.

He believes people heal by connecting deeply to God and others.  They need to know that God loves them just as they are, even in their darkest place.  Andy desires to help people trust that God knows their name, and He knows the pain they are going through.  God promises that we are not defeated, “we are more than conquerors through Christ” (Rom. 8:37).  What Andy has discovered though his own difficult trials is that God’s involvement in our lives means that everything we go through, whether trials or victories, serves a divine purpose: to bring us closer to, and make us more in the image of Christ.  He desires to help people experience God’s grace, mercy, and forgiveness.

God has given Andy a heart for youth, particularly in their teenage years.  Since 1998 Andy has gained experience working with youth in various capacities: as a staff member of Young Life running Christian teen programs and Bible studies in inner-city Washington, D.C., as a high-school teacher, a youth minister, a tutor, a mentor, and some work with kids with disabilities.  His passion is to encourage and empower young people in their critical teenage years to pursue and achieve all that God has called them to be.  God has especially put on his heart the need to help boys make the journey into manhood.

Andy works with children, adolescents men and family issues.  He is able to provide Biblical counsel on areas including divorce, broken homes, and sexual addiction.  Andy integrates faith in his counseling, though he is sensitive to where his clients may be in their spiritual walk.  He offers hope and encouragement and works with a client’s strength base.

Andy grew up in New Jersey and Nebraska, but Northern Virginia has been his home for almost 12 years.  He received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Princeton University and a Master of Arts in Christian Counseling and Discipleship from Capital Bible Seminary.  He is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and currently pursuing a professional counseling license.

Andy is available for day, evening and Saturday appointments.
