Kelly Carter

Kelly Carter, LPC

Kelly Carter has a passion to help build up and restore the body of believers through her unique, strength-based approach founded in Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

Since 1995 Kelly has been in the field providing counseling for individual adults, couples, families and groups.  She works with clients experiencing mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, personal relationship concerns, co-dependency, addictions, dual diagnoses, trauma and abuse.  Kelly provides outreach to the military and their families for issues such as PTSD, grief and loss.   She also provides both marital and pre-marital counseling and periodic groups, offering a variety of topics to serve the needs of the community.

Kelly combines biblical truth with her skills and experience as a counselor to encourage healing, learning and growth.  She believes that change comes with the daily renewing of our mind and through action as we press on to become more fully who God intends for us to be.   She works to help reconcile and restore right relationships focusing on thoughts, actions and understanding as outlined in the Word and as offered us all by redemption through Christ.  Her style is biblically-based incorporating cognitive behavioral and family systems therapy.

Bringing her ease of rapport and genuine, positive attitude, Kelly builds on the foundation of trust in a confidential, working environment.  She believes that counseling provides a privileged opportunity to walk beside someone in time, respecting their unique and personal journey while encouraging hope and belief in what we can accomplish through Christ.  Her calling is to help others find their way through life's difficulties, seeing man as works of clay being stretched and molded throughout this lifetime.  It if often a painful process but one that can bring glory to God as we learn together how to navigate effectively through the difficult times towards where God is calling each of us in Him.

Kelly obtained her Bachelor's in Psychology from Messiah College and her Master's in Counseling from George Mason University.  Her experience in the field includes working in residential, home-based and outpatient counseling facilities.   Kelly is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), the Association for Spiritual, Ethical and Religious Values in Counseling (ASERVIC) and the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC).  She receives ongoing training through these memberships.
